I storyboarded a VFX-heavy scene for 37Laines’s live-action science-fiction short film Aptitude.
Two students take a standardized aptitude test consisting of a series of puzzles in an ever-changing virtual-reality space. The film explores the themes of academic pressure, income inequality, and generational pressure.
The scene takes place in the virtual-reality space, and incorporates several plot-relevant visual effects treatments. My storyboards were meant to assist the art director, cinematographer, and VFX team begin to visualize how the VFX would work.
The team only had about a week and a half to prep these boards before the film's scheduled shoot; we worked closely together to create the most functional boards possible in the short time we had, and were happy with how they turned out!
The below boards were cleaned up after the initial submission; this is about one-third of the final scene.
