"People are tying themselves to their roofs."
This line came from a news report about the several hurricanes of the Fall of 2017; a reporter stated that people were tying themselves to their roofs, which struck me as an odd image. It seemed almost ritualistic, as if they were offering themselves as sacrifice to the storm so that it would stop. I wanted to tell the story of a character who did exactly that, in a tone as dreamlike and surreal as the notion seemed to me.
I constructed lightbox from a plastic container, a sheet of plexiglass, and LED work lights, and cut a stage from tissue paper. I animated with cut paper models and composited in Premiere Pro.
The score was written in Logic Pro X, using a mix of samples and original electronic audio.
